STEM event July 2010
Following the event, random collection of suggestions from all present for next time.
- Timing of guides, either free flowing or fixed time slots. If the latter, they should be similar in duration to one another
- Cloud Chamber The ad hoc tent which we constructed needs to have improved air flow as it can become quite warm inside!
- For the arrangement of chairs, ~50 people accommodated with central aisle, towards Maths end of the bridge study. Projection may be better if from the side with correction for trapezoidal distortion from the projector itself.
- We would like to add next time the LHC control room mock up, and also the LHC game
- Would help to have the different activities more spread out within the room, as some of them (and demonstrators!) generate more noise than others and can make it hard for everyone to hear what is being said.
- Screens: projector onto one of the blinds worked well, we should try to borrow a second projector from someone for the 16-17 Sept. events.
- The SparkChamber would be better with different lighting, it so happened that there was a missing blind on the opposite side of the bridge study room so in the morning the ambient light levels were relatively higher than when we had tested the previous day. Need to check provision of screening.
- Need to get an ALICE poster too!
To save time for the next event, the collection of posters and the arrangement of the room as it was used on 21 July are shown in the pictures attached to this page.
