Ioannis Kopsalis works in the Birmingham particle physics group on the development of silicon detectors for next generation experiments, a topic where he gained considerable expertise both from an experimental and a theoretical point of view as a PhD student in Hamburg. He is currently working on depleted monolithic active pixel sensors (DMAPS), in particular characterising their radiation hardness capabilities as part of the European-funded AIDA-2020 programme.
