The BaBar experiment

The primary goal of the BaBar collaboration was to investigate CP violation, which is related to the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. The experiment studied differences between the decays of B and anti-B mesons. It was situated at the PEP-II collider, a "B-factory" which produced the hundreds of millions of B mesons essential for these precise studies.
