---++ Reading List No single text is perfect for this module. Your Year 1 text, Young and Freedman, has some relevant material but doesn't go far enough. Most others contain more than is needed, though that need not be a bad thing. The list below is similar to the Y1 Intro to PP list, though with slighty different emphases. ---+++ General particle physics texts * _Nuclear and Particle Physics_, *B.R.Martin*, Wiley, ISBN 0-470-02532-8 (2006). _Includes both Nuclear and Particle Physics, so a good resource for our purposes._ * _Particle Physics_, *B.R.Martin and G.Shaw*, Wiley, ISBN0-471-92359-1 (1992). _There are three editions available (1992, 2003, 2011), all include material which is referred to in the course._ * _The ideas of particle physics :an introduction for scientists (2nd Ed.)_, *G.D. Coughlan and J.E. Dodd*, Cambridge University Press, ISBN 0521385067(1991) * _Introduction to high energy physics_, *D.H. Perkins*, Addison-Wesley (2nd and 3rd ed.), Cambridge University Press (4th ed.). _There are many copies of this book between 2nd and 4th edition in the library. Emphasis on 'historical' physics/methods._ * _Elements of Nuclear Physics_, *W.E. Burcham*, Longman, ISBN 0-582-46027-1 (1985). _There is a more recent book by *Burcham and Jobes* which may also be useful._ ---+++ -- Main.AlanWatson - 29 Sep 2013
