As part of the recent EU project "Discover the Cosmos", a starter exercise, using Minerva software to identify particle tracks in the ATLAS detector, has been developed for use in schools.
All resources needed are given below.
If you have any problems or difficulties, please e-mail Lynne Long -
l.long@bham.ac.uk
We are able to support schools local to Birmingham/run example masterclasses with pupils & teachers on the school site by request.
Many more data sets and other projects using the Minerva software can be found on the Discover the Cosmos Portal at
http://portal.discoverthecosmos.eu/
A lot of the data sets on the portal are now
REAL data from the ATLAS experiment and may be suitable for student use on
EPQ PROJECTS which require data analyais as well as research on a topic.
The portal also gives access to other numerous educational materials (educational scenarios and lesson plans, students projects, animations, online tools and laboratories, guidelines for interactive experiences with Astronomy and HEP Resources).
