Particle Physics Seminar

Date: Wednesday 9th June 2004

Title: Grids and Particle Physics: a UK perspective

Speaker: Dr Roger Jones (Lancaster)

Abstract
The onset of the very large computing requirements of the LHC has happily coincided with the emergence of the Grid paradigm. The story of the application of Grid ideas has not (yet) been completed, but substantial success has already been seen. The talk will discuss the activity of the GridPP collaboration in preparing applications and hardware for particle physics Grid use, and will give the perspective of the ATLAS experiment on World Wide computing.

Particle Physics Seminars take place in room 103, Physics West, on Wednesdays at 1315, unless listed otherwise. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served at 1300.
