Title: Neutrino Physics at KARMEN

Speaker: Dr. Ian Blair (RAL/QMW)

Abstract
The KARMEN experiment has been running on the ISIS accelerator at the Rutherford Laboratory for over a decade and is scheduled to finish taking data next year. It is investigating a number of aspects of neutrino physics including the prospect of oscillations between different flavours which would arise from non-zero mass. Also, an unexpected anomaly was seen in the time distribution of observed events which could be interpreted as evidence for a previously unknown exotic particle. The experimental technique will be described and the latest results presented.

Particle Physics Seminars take place in room B03, Physics West, on Wednesdays at 1315, unless listed otherwise. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served at 1300.
