Minutes of 03-May-2006 Telephone Meeting

Fabrizio Salvatore, Mike Green, Michele Faucci Gianelli,
Mark Thomson, David Ward, Wenbiao Yan
Minutes: David W
- Notes from 29-Mar-2006 meeting
- Monte Carlo production
Fabrizio asked whether we should start large-scale production in advance
of the test beam running. General feeling is that until beam conditions
(energies, beam size etc.) are understood, this is premature. Even then,
would expect to start with small samples for tuning. However, we should
make sure we have the tools and infrastructure in advance. Anne-Marie
reported that she and Gidon are making progress with getting Mokka to run
on the Grid.
- Digitization/anti-calibration strategy
Fabrizio asked whether we should have a meeting to discuss this.
A recent Email exchange initiated by Anne-Marie had revealed differences
of opinion, which remain to be resolved. Anne-Marie will raise some of
these issues at Montreal, and maybe we could have a face-to-face
meeting in the UK after that.
-
Wenbiao Yan - Angular Resolution -
see slides .
- Mark Thomson - PandoraPFA status
Mark reported that he has now achieved 30%/sqrt(E) resolution for Z0
at rest. Tuning up for t-tbar at 500 GeV has now achieved 45%/sqrt(E).
Mark's present feeling is that particle flow ceases to be viable for jets above
~200 GeV,
unless the detector is really large.
