Welcome to the website of the Bubble Chamber Data Preservation Initiative, a particle physics data preservation and public engagement project concerned with bubble chamber experiments conducted from the 1960s to 1980s. The goal of the project is to digitise a large collection of the original photographic film used by these experiments to record sub-atomic particle interactions and share it with the world. More information can be found on in the Project section.
To take a look through some of the images collected by the project, please use the Image Viewer section and consult the Image Guide to understand what they show. If you're not familar with bubble chambers or particle physics in general, we invite you to take a look through the material in our Background section.
The project is hosted by the University of Birmingham's Particle Physics research group (based in the School of Physics and Astronomy) and has been supported by funding from the Royal Society (Research Grant 231038) and STFC (Impact Acceleration Account).
